Date night Family Lifestyle Things to do with kids

Monster Mini Golf in Eatontown, NJ is a great indoor activity for the whole family to Love.

Monster Mini Golf is the cutest thing since……

I’m stuck, I don’t have a saying for the cutest thing since _________, so I’ll leave it up to you to fill in the blank.

I discovered Monster Mini Golf quite a few years ago and I wanted to take my children there someday because I felt they would enjoy it. Needless to say, I was completely wrong.

No, there was nothing bad about Monster golf, not at all. The problem came when I, the mom who was supposed to know her children inside out, forgot how competitive they were. Well, they weren’t both competitive but the one who cried every single time their golf ball did not go into the hole.

This child even cried after it was made clear no one was keeping score and this was all for fun.

Thank goodness all of the pictures for this blog were taken before the competition.

Believe me, the only thing I wanted to do after this competition melt-down was to immediately leave. And do you know once we left the competition broke out into the parking lot? Now it was a competition on who could get to the car first and put on their seat belt.

Talk about instant stress.

Save me now. Where’s my emoji when I need it?

Parking

The Monster miniature golf we visited was located in a plaza that had great parking in front of its location.

I’ve been to about 3 Monster golfs in New Jersey and they seem to all have the same types of locations. All of them were off of a major highway inside of a plaza and provide excellent parking.

Yes, the parking is free.

Admission

The good thing about Monster golf is you can pay once you arrive. The cost for adults is $13 each and for the kids, we paid $12 each.

Monster Mini Golf discount

Monster golf does have ways you can save on admission like; military discounts, if you wear a Monster golf shirt on a certain day they will give you a discount, and they even have a date night discount.

There are a couple of combo packages as well, check your local Monster miniature golf’s location for more details.

If all else fells you can always check Groupon to see if any discounts are available.

Things to do at Monster Mini Golf

I was going to start this section off by saying, the one thing I love about this place however that seems to be the story about every place we visit.

Okay fine, I’ll say it. The one thing that I love about this place is there are other activities to do besides golf.

We visited this location on a rainy day so there were quite a few people who had the same idea to go miniature golfing on that day. Being that there were so many people visiting the facility at once, our family had to wait in line for the other guest to make it past the first hole.

While we waited the kids took advantage of some of the attractions Monster golf had to offer.

Monster Mini Golf’s Arcade

They have an arcade section that includes some games such as air hockey, skee ball, motorcycles, and my favorite, the basketball hoops.

There were a ton of other cool games to play as well but as soon as we were done with these, it seemed like the line was getting shorter. We decided to take advantage of the dwindling line and jump on it before it got long again.

If your family loves arcades, click here to find out about an indoor arcade for kid called Play Big Zone in Morganville, NJ.

On the golf course at Monster Mini Golf

Mini Golf

When I think of miniature golf, I think of fewer holes than it would be on a regular golf course, but I soon found out that was not true at all. Miniature golf has the same amount of holes as a professional golf course.

I know, right? Who would’ve thought?

You’re welcome.

Well, miniature golf has the same amount of holes but the course is much smaller and the time goes by quicker.

The graphics alone will make the time go by quicker. Whoever designed these courses did an excellent job. All of the graphics are glow-in-the-dark monsters which are very cute and also entertaining. Some of the graphics were witches, goblins, Frankensteins, zombies, jack-o-lanterns, scary rats, and much much more.

LOL… Isn’t there a song called, “The writings on the wall”? Well, Monster’s golf has some interesting writings. While we were waiting for the next group to move on to the next hole, I got a chance to read some of the writings.

I don’t want to mess up the jokes that were on the walls but you have to read the monster cemetery. Some of the headstones are hilarious.

I think one of them said, “Jack has finally kicked the bucket.” or something like that.

Sidenote: My kids loved it when they found out their clothes were also glowing, the pictures came out AMAZING.

In the Lazer maze

Lazer maze

All of the Monster Mini Golfs have their very own bonus attraction, this one happens to have a laser maze. I did not go to the laser maze in this place but they are very cool. In the laser maze, there are these green laser beams that crisscross throughout the room.

The objective of the game is to get through the obstacle of laser beams without touching any of them. The person who gets to the end without losing their balance wins.

People outside of the room can view your progress by viewing you on a monitor at the entrance of the maze.

Sidenote: If you do not see the laser beams let an attendant know because they are supposed to be very visible. To see the green lights the fog machine has to be on in the room.

What ages can go to Monster Mini Golf?

If your child gets the concept of hitting a ball with an object then that means they can go. You may have to give them little instructions on how to hit the ball. Or you may have to help guide them with the golf club but once they get the hang of it they’ll be fine.

I’m laughing as I typed that last part because I know as a parent trying to show your 2-5-year-old how to hit anything or giving them any type of instructions sometimes can be like trying to bathe a cat.

I’m still laughing. Good luck with that.

Will I like Monster Mini Golf?

So Monster Golf is really good for all ages. Seriously, It’s great for a girl’s night out and then afterward you ladies can go to the bar. It’s great for date night while the kids stay at home. It’s also great for preteens or teenagers to meet up with their friends.

Best of all you can make Monster Golf a family day out as our family did. It is a great place to visit on rainy days or if it is really hot outside and you’re trying to escape the heat.

Is this a good place for a first date?

I would not recommend it on a first date: My advice is on a first date just go get some ice cream or milkshakes first. Do something that can be either short and sweet.

If you happen to like the guy then think of the ice cream as the appetizer and you can do Monster Golf next because that will give you more time to spend with the person. I say you can spend an extra good hour with your new date playing miniature golf.

This is also a good date for anyone that’s on a budget because the price is reasonable and it will not break the bank. Check the website or Groupon for savings if you are on a budget. After that, you guys can grab a slice of pizza and Presto!! Your date is done.

Playing in the Arcade at Monster Mini Golf

Birthday Parties

Monster Golf is a great place to have a party. They have a private party room to take your guest away from the rest of the patrons. The rooms are monster-themed just like the mini-golf course.

You can choose from any package that best fits your needs. There are about 4 types of packages available for you to pick from. Yes, the packages include; your very own host to run your party, arcade tickets, pizza, and drinks.

The best thing on the list of things included in the setup and clean-up. After planning and entertaining a birthday party, no mom wants to have to clean up at the end.

Food

Monster golf does not have food available at their facility but there are so many options close by. You have so many choices of restaurants in the area from sit down and dine to a fast-food drive-through.

The food is not within walking distance but they’re about a 5 to 10-minute drive away from the facility.

If you have a competitive family like I do, click here to check out my blog about Bowlero Bowling.
