Family Lifestyle Things to do with kids

Climbzone Howell NJ-Indoor rock climbing your children will love.

Climbzone Howell will have your kids literally climbing up the walls. You’re probably reading this with a serious face, but I’m sitting at my computer laughing as I’m typing this. (I think I’m a comedian)

If your kids are like mine and love climbing things, then Climbzone is the perfect place for you to take them.

I’m sure my mom would have loved for a place like this to exist when my brothers and I were younger because this place is a lot safer than the trees we used to climb outside in our neighborhood.

Climbzone in Howell NJ

When they first started to advertise Climbzone, the bright colors and cool themes attracted me to this place.

Tickets

You can purchase tickets for Climbzone online through the website, or you can also buy tickets once you get to the location. Climb Zone has 4 types of packages available, which are based on age groups.

This is an excellent idea, so you can skip paying for activities your child is too young to partake in.

Do I need to make reservations?

Reservations are optional, but it might be a good idea to book your passes online on busier days such as the weekends, rainy days, and school holidays. The worst thing for a child to do when they’re excited about going somewhere is for them to have to wait.

Climbzone Howell Waiver

Before you start your visit, the staff will check you in to ensure your waiver has been signed. Waivers can be completed online or at the locations.

Before you climb

After you have paid and your waivers are signed, a staff member will ensure you and your children are secure in a harness. Our staff member came with us on our first climb to give us instructions and show us how the belaying system worked. Once my kids climbed and descended, we were ready to climb the walls independently.

Howell NJ climbing Walls

All of the walls have different themes to climb, which was very exciting for my kids. To name a few of my favorites, they had a; piano, a puzzled map of America, The Lincoln Memorial, Jack and the Beanstalk, and a giraffe.

One thing for sure is that the theme makes you want to climb all of them, which is an excellent incentive to get the kids into working out.

Kids don’t need to be convinced to climb things. It comes naturally.

The first time we went to ClimbZone, my son was 3 years old, and he was not as big as his sister, but he wanted to do everything she was doing.

So as he climbed the walls, I cheered him on to go higher. He went higher and higher and enjoyed that he climbed so high he far surpassed his sister.

I was so proud of him.

The only thing I did not notice then was that he could climb the wall, but he was too small to belay back down because he was not heavy enough.

The more I tried to coach him, the more he started to cry.

Thank goodness for the great staff that works at Climbzone. A staff member assured my son that it would be okay and he would help him down.

Although my son was not happy he climbed so high up the wall, I was proud of his accomplishment.

Note to parents: Make sure your younger child is comfortable with their climbing height.

Auto belaying system

I need to learn more about belaying to tell you the technical side of it but what I do know is I like that the system is automatic.

I have gone indoor rock climbing at other facilities, and I remember it was more complex than I found it to be a Climbzone.

Can I climb with my children?

Indoor rock climbing is a great exercise and an excellent sport to be a part of. If you are up for the challenge, please join in the fun with your kids. You’ll have lots of laughs as a family, and it is a great workout.

The belays at Climbzone have a restricted weight of 250lbs.
